All boosters in Starfield are ranked

One of Starfield’s main attractions is research. The ability to travel to a wide variety of planets and explore their surface is why some players enjoy the game. Naturally, having to run everywhere on foot will become tedious and boring, and this is where boost packs come into play. With an entire skill tree dedicated to using boosters, they will become an integral part of your gameplay. Here is a ranking of all four booster types in Starfield.

Starfield Boost Pack Tier List

Starting with the worst and moving to the best, below is a list of every booster in Starfield and why they are where they are. The list is my personal opinion, but the reasons I’ve given will allow you to make your own judgment about these boosters.

Skip promotion package

You may be as surprised as I was to find the Pass Upgrade Pack in last place. This is because with this pack you can’t go far or high before it runs out of juice. Now I know this is because the throughput boost pack has the unique benefit of regenerating energy at a rate of 1.5x, however I don’t think it’s a big bonus.

This can be crucial in certain combat moments when you need to briefly but constantly use your booster. This sounds great on paper, but in practice, using other power packages trumps this rather situational use.

Because it lacks all the booster pack practices, I can’t say I would recommend skipping the booster pack at all.

Basic upgrade package

The Basic Level Up Pack is simply the standard for Level Up Packs. Average performance in all respects. It works better than the throughput boost package, even if it charges slower. You can’t complain about the basic boost package, although you won’t want to use it for long. It’s getting outdated compared to the other two boosters.

Balanced promotion package

The Balanced Booster is a truly fantastic booster and is my preferred one. It has the best horizontal coverage in the game, making surface exploration as efficient as possible. It also has the second-highest hover distance and the second-highest vertical reach, making it a truly exceptional and versatile acceleration package.

With multiple balanced benefits, this booster makes travel easier and allows for multiple boosts, making it effective in combat situations.

Power package

The power package is a beast. Objectively it is better than a balanced boost pack, although for general use I prefer the balanced one. With the best hover distance and vertical reach, this boost pack is the best you can get if you want Obi-Wan Kenobi to take on high ground.

It only gives one huge boost, which takes all your energy, but rewards you with the highest reach, so it’s a fair trade-off. You may need this pack if there are some ledges that you just can’t reach.

Which acceleration package is best for you?

All things considered, players should only worry about power and balanced boost packs as they boast the best features and complement each other. If you can find a practical use for a pass booster, then go for it! Personally, I don’t see how this would be more useful in a given situation than a balanced booster. But Starfield is all about experimentation and exploration, so do what you think is best.
