The Genshin Impact 4.0 update will launch on August 16, 2023.
Update 4.0 will introduce several new characters to the world of Teyvat. The teaser, titled “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast”, was released on July 3, 2023, giving fans their first official look at the new fighters.
Lini, Lynette, and Freminet will be the main additions to the roster of playable characters in the Fontaine region, but there will be plenty of other new faces for travelers to meet on the next leg of their journey.
During the official HoYoverse press conference, several details were revealed about the upcoming banner schedule for the game. Lini and Lynette will appear in the first phase of the update, and Freminet in the second.
The biggest addition to update 4.0 is the new Fontaine region.
Surrounded by water, HoYoverse says the region “offers unique underwater adventures in some of its areas.” Especially for this region, the mechanics of underwater movement will be added to the game, in which “players will not experience a lack of oxygen due to a special blessing, but will use up water stamina when running.”
Combat will also take place underwater, and some characters will even be able to absorb the abilities of aquatic creatures to use in battle. This mechanic will undoubtedly come in handy when fighting Fontaine’s new bosses, including the dancing mek clockwork duo and the heavily armored crablord “Emperor of Fire and Iron.”
