How to defeat Echo Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 2?
One of the most anticipated features introduced in Diablo 4 Season 2 is the new set of final bosses. They provide dedicated players with the opportunity to test out their high-level builds, as well as an effective means to farm powerful, unique gear that was previously difficult to obtain.
The first of these new horrors you’ll likely encounter is Varshan’s Echo, a new and improved form of the final boss of Season 1, Season of the Evil. While he’s easier than other new endgame bosses, he’s still tougher by a large margin than most of the ones you’ll face in the regular game, so if you’re having trouble, read on to find out how to defeat Echo Varshan in Diablo season 4. 2.
How to summon Echo of Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 2
Echo of Varshan takes the Ikea approach to boss design: you have to assemble it yourself. Before you can face him, you will need to collect all of his body parts and put them together in a new cave under the Tree of Whispers. It’s worth noting that you need to reach at least World Tier 3 before you can complete this process and challenge Echo of Varshan.
To find these body parts, you need to complete the Tree of Whispers quests in the world . They are always active and clearly visible on your map thanks to their bright pink or red color. Typically, there will be several of them active at the same time in the same area, so once you discover them, you can quickly go through several of them in a row in the same area.
The objectives for these are very simple and typically involve killing a certain number of enemies in a certain area, killing a certain number of enemies of a certain type in a certain area, finding a corpse and defeating a mini-boss or clearing out a basement or dungeon. Completing these tasks will earn you points, which you can exchange for rewards at the Tree of Whispers once you have accumulated 10 of them.
Your reward for trading 10 points this way is always a cache full of a certain type of gear, and in Season 2, these caches will also contain at least one Echo Varshan body part . In addition to being available through these caches, you are also guaranteed to receive one body part from the Grotesque Debtors , mini-bosses that spawn randomly after you complete the Tree of Whispers quest in the world.
You will need the following parts: Gurgling Head, Blackened Thighbone and Trembling Hand . If you are trying to summon Varshan’s Echo at World Level 4, you will also need Malignant Heart, which can be obtained in the same way. The parts you receive from each Stash and from each Grotesque Debtor are random, so you may well end up with three heads before you get a Femur, for example. However, the extras can always be used in future challenges , as this boss is incredibly easy to farm, which I’ll talk about later.
Once you have collected at least one of each piece, you will need to head to the Malignant Burrow , a new cave located next to the Tree of Whispers. Fight your way through a small tunnel full of enemies and you’ll reach the Ominous Altar, where you can perform a ritual to summon Echoes of Varshan into battle.
How to defeat Echo Varshan in Diablo 4 Season 2
Once you’ve summoned Echo Varshan, it’s time to get down to business. This is a fairly difficult fight, with several moves that can easily destroy you in a matter of seconds if you’re not careful. It has three main “states” that it goes through, and I’ll go into detail about each one here.
The first of these is the Triangle of Death condition, in which Echo of Varshan creates triangular-shaped zones on the ground that deal massive damage to you if you get caught in them. This is by far his most dangerous attack , and even though the figures on the ground have communicated it ahead of time, it can still easily kill you at full health if you’re not prepared to dodge when it starts. While you can use this attack as an opportunity to deal some damage if you’re lucky, it’s so dangerous that I’d recommend focusing solely on dodging it , even moving to the edge of the arena if you have to.
Echo Varshan’s second state is his summoning state. Here, he summons three elite enemies around him, and then begins draining their health to restore his own. You have two main options here: try to kill the elites before Echo of Varshan drains them, or ignore them and focus your attacks on the Echo itself. I had a lot of success in this fight using the latter method, so I recommend you do the same and treat this phase as your main opportunity to damage the boss . He doesn’t tend to actively attack at this stage, and the damage the Elites can do is negligible, so this is a great time to unleash all your favorite skills at once.
Finally, there is Echo Varshan’s melee attack state. In this case, he will use his tentacles to move around the arena, and between them make melee attacks in front of him. These attacks are quite damaging, but unlike the Death Triangle attacks, they are unlikely to kill you quickly, and you will have plenty of time to dodge and heal at this point. If you can stay behind Varshan’s Echo at all times, then you can also take some extra damage in this phase, but for the most part I’d recommend playing it safe and dodging here , letting your skills cool down for the big push during the next summoning phase.
While it may be tempting to try to destroy Echo Varshan from the start, it’s worth remembering that this is the final boss, and therefore a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, use the tactics above, replenish your health when you need it, and it will be down before you know it.
Rewards: Echo of Varshan loot drops.
