When traveling in packs, you are unlikely to encounter one. Here’s how to find them, although I don’t really understand why you’d need to.
Where is Argentavis in Ark Survival Ascended?
In Ark Survival Ascended, Argentavis is a giant bird that generally prefers colder climates and higher elevations. They tend to travel in packs, although you may spot a solitary individual from time to time. Fiercely defensive, once they lock on their target, they will travel great distances to see it dead.
On the map of the island you will find them in the north, in the snowy region, as well as on the slopes of the mountains. They are more common at higher elevations, so if you are looking for them, travel on mountain roads. You’ll soon come across one.

These giant creatures are quite muscular and you will need to be well equipped to defeat one of them. When you tame one of them, all of its stats except for torpor will increase, making it slightly stronger.
How to tame Argentavis in Ark Survival Ascended
Argentavis are quite difficult to tame, given their mobility and damage. The only way to tame them is to render them unconscious by increasing their torpor. To do this you will need a ranged weapon. Using any tranquilizer is highly recommended, although a slingshot will work.
Try to isolate and provoke your target Argentavis. You will need to keep shooting at him and moving out of his way to stay alive. You may find that he will try to fly away when you are almost there, so you will want to be sure to quickly land another hit or two to knock him down.
When you pass out, you must feed him. Excellent feed and any raw or cooked meat will do, with lamb and premium meats, raw or cooked, being the most effective. When the taming meter is full, he will wake up tamed and you will have your own terrifying Argentavis.
