How to Get Monowire in Cyberpunk 2077 [Update 2.0]

Although Cyberpunk 2077 has an arsenal of weapons at your disposal, a true netrunner sticks to something unique that reflects his signature style. Enter the monocable, the weapon of choice for most netrunners in Cyberpunk 2077. This deadly rope boasts greater range than any melee weapon and has several interesting features that make it a must-have. However, when trying to figure out how to use a mono wire as a weapon in Cyberpunk 2077, some people are scratching their heads.

Cyberpunk 2077 Monowire Locations

Following the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update, Monowire is now sold almost exclusively by Ripperdocs scattered throughout Night City and Dogtown. Those who were wondering about the free Monowire in the garage outside the East Watson Pharmacy may be a little disappointed to hear this news.
In addition, Ripperdocs will now have a shared inventory, meaning that whatever one Ripperdoc sells, the rest will also sell it. Whether you purchase the cyberware you choose will depend on your player character level and street cred requirements. Starting at level 10, Ripperdocs will allow you to purchase Cyberware, so once you meet the required qualifications, visit any Ripperdoc to purchase monowire in the Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update

You can find one Ripperdoc in the Watson Kabuki Quarter, near the open market south of the fast travel point near the roundabout with the weapons and cyberware vendor. You can find another one in Westbrook, Charter Hill.

Advantages of a monowire as a weapon in Cyberpunk 2077

The monowire in the CP2077 has a range advantage over weapons such as katana or mantis blades. It is also capable of hitting multiple enemies in a group, making it useful for clearing out crowds quickly. Plus, it slowly builds up charge between inactive uses. This allows the monowire to channel that charge into the next attack, resulting in much more devastating damage.
There are many builds that focus on adding additional features that increase Monowire’s usefulness if you want to get into the nitty-gritty details.

One aspect of Monowires that is worth noting is that they have three empty mod slots that you can fill to change and improve your weapon’s capabilities. These Cyberpunk 2077 one-wire mods are being sold by Ripperdocs, so keep an eye out for them as they become available.

The first slot for your ‘Monowire Cable’ changes the damage type of your Monowire in Cyberpunk 2077. To this end, below is a list of the different damage type modifications for weapons:

Monowire – Physical Damage

 • Monowire – thermal damage
 • Mono Wire – Chemical Damage
 • Single wire – electrical damage

Scan your opponents and check what type of damage they are vulnerable to. If you are increasingly facing opponents weak to electrical damage, you can insert it. However, the Physical Damage mod is quite versatile.

Your ‘Monowire Battery’ slot increases the damage dealt by the charge when the wire is fully charged. It’s simple and you need to choose a Monowire battery: high capacity. This gives the largest damage bonus (+50%), making the rest unnecessary.

For your last slot, you might want to consider some kind of universal cyberarm piece that interfaces with a monowire. Since this is a critical type weapon, it is best to choose the Sensor Booster mod. This increases critical strike chance by 2% or critical damage by 20%. Any of them are suitable for this weapon.
