During the Out on a Limb mission, you need to Persuade Emilio to get the data Kelton asks you, but Persuading Emilio is not that easy in Starfield.
During the “Out On A Limb” mission in Starfield, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with two NPCs in different locations: Kelton Frush and Emilio Hadek. Both of these individuals are engaged in research activities, but Kelton will assign you the task of persuading Emilio Hadek to retrieve the data without disclosing Kelton’s involvement.
Emilio’s whereabouts are conveniently marked by an objective marker in Starfield, making him easy to locate. Simply follow this marker, and you’ll come across Emilio, identifiable by his white and blue attire.
Upon approaching Emilio Hadek, he will request that you stand slightly to the left to avoid blocking his view. You can initiate the conversation by selecting the second dialogue option, “I’m on MAST business too. I need some research data on trees.” Upon hearing this, Emilio will surmise that Kelton has enlisted your help to acquire his research data in Starfield.
As it becomes evident, Emilio holds a grudge against Kelton and is not interested in jeopardizing his own career in Starfield. He reveals that Kelton Frush intends to utilize his research to curry favor with higher-ups, which has already hindered Emilio’s prospects for advancement within MAST. Consequently, Emilio is resolute in refusing to relinquish his research.
Persuading Emilio Hadek in Starfield
To persuade Emilio Hadek in Starfield, you should choose the dialogue option, “Kelton says this… at stake.” Emilio will react with a knowing smirk, contemplating the situation.
Afterward, he will agree to provide you with his data, but he’ll make a demand in return. Emilio will ask for your assistance in securing a better position within MAST. If you inquire about the specifics, Emilio will explain that you need to erase certain files on his behalf in Starfield. If you decide to accept his request, Emilio will express surprise and gratitude.
Emilio Hadek will also disclose that he has received unfavorable performance evaluations, which he believes are unjust. He mentions discovering a backdoor into the MAST network and attempted to make adjustments but was thwarted by the Chief Engineer. His lack of access prevented him from completing the task, and the only way to gain access was to use the terminal in her apartment.
However, you’ll find that the place is locked, prompting a series of dialogue choices. Initially, opt for the first choice, which involves persuading Emilio to provide you with Kelton’s data immediately and skip the rest of the conversation. Emilio will initially decline, leading to additional options.
You have three turns to persuade him, so choose the second (orange) option, which states, “This isn’t the way to get ahead” in Starfield. Emilio will express his disagreement.
Following this, select the first (green) option to resolve the matter amicably with him in Starfield. Emilio will then have a change of heart, and you’ll receive a Persuasion successful message in the bottom left corner of your screen. Additionally, you’ll earn 10 XP as a reward for successfully persuading Emilio Hadek.
Upon successfully persuading Emilio Hadek, you will find his Slate in your Starfield inventory. If you decline his offer in Starfield, you will receive a message indicating that your companion, Sarah Morgan, appreciated your decision.
Should You Persuade Emilio Hadek?
After the events of the “Out on a Limb” mission in Starfield, the choice of how to persuade Emilio will ultimately be yours. However, when you speak to Emilio, you’ll learn that Kelton is a manipulative individual who is willing to use any means necessary to advance at the expense of his fellow researchers.
The question that arises here is whether you should persuade Emilio Hadek. The answer is yes, you should. Completing this mission will be necessary for your progress, and doing so will also reward you with XP (+10). Additionally, it’s advisable to accept Emilio’s offer and assist him by deleting the files from the terminal in Starfield, as it aligns with the right course of action.
What happens if you do not Persuade Emilio Hadek?
If you choose “Sounds fun, I like a challenge“, you will fabricate Emilio Hadek’s data. Furthermore, you will continue the quest in Starfield until the very end.
Not getting persuasion options
Certain parts of Starfield can be rather perplexing, and if you’re like most players, you might have encountered issues with the persuasion option. In your conversation with Emilio Hadek, every dialogue choice seems to lead you towards deleting the data.
A quick solution to the absence of the persuasion option during your conversation with Emilio Hadek is to initially agree to his request. This action will naturally progress the conversation to the persuasion prompt.
