League of Legends Patch 13.20 Notes. The Worlds 2023 metagame is locked, which means League of Legends Patch 13.20 will introduce a fun mix-up game to Summoner’s Rift in preparation for Season 14.
This League of Legends Patch 13.20 update brings balance changes to eleven champions (five buffs and five nerfs), as well as a major rework to X’Sante less than a year after his introduction. Four items and eleven runes will also be replaced as Riot Games overhauls every aspect of its flagship game.
Speaking of mixing, prepare your energy for some pretty heavy reading; In this update, the League of Legends developers are targeting various systems, including death timers, dragon souls and bonuses, and the amount of gold that can be obtained from destroying towers.
According to League of Legends Balance Manager Matt Leung-Harrison on October 2, most of these changes have one goal: “Shrink the snowball.”
Other neutral targets such as the Herald and Baron are also replaced.
Finally, Riot is also going all out in the costume department, releasing new versions of Coven, Old God, and Star Guardian. The bundle includes the Worlds 2023 skin and another Neo PAX re-release.
When will League of Legends update 13.20 be released?
This super-packed 13.20 update for League of Legends will release on Wednesday, October 11th. Considering how many of them we’ve already played with, chances are that some of these pending changes will remain in reserve, but most of them will hit the live servers as soon as the release bell rings.
The first October update will begin rolling out around 10:00 a.m. ET in Australia—that’s fine by me—and will be available on the main League of Legends servers throughout the day.
Here are all the important points of the update:
- 3:30 pm Central Time (North America)
- 05:00 GMT (western EU)
- 03:00 CET (NE EU)
- Morning 8 KR (Korea)
League of Legends Update 13.20
Expect several hours of server downtime as the patch begins to roll out. Matchmaking will be disabled in all League of Legends queues three hours prior to the official release of the update.
What does League of Legends update 13.20 include?
Preseason doors open with an avalanche of nerfs
Riot has been looking to limit the effectiveness of early leads since early last year, and now the developers are striking back after the 2023 League of Legends season began to revert to old snowball habits.
Jungle Power (especially Smite and Jungle Pets), Dragons, Rift Herald, Baron Nashor, every jungle camp, experience, death timers, tower gold, minion rewards, and even nearly a dozen runes are affected by a whirlwind of changes, and Lung-Harrison is gaining momentum. He admits that the problem has started to get out of hand with recent updates.
This highlights one of the developers’ main goals for the 2024 preseason, so we expect to see similar changes in the next few updates.

As a result of the anti-snowball changes, almost all neutral targets were hit.
Spring surprise Riot K’Sante Rework
Ahead of the champion’s first birthday, changes are being made to K’Sante’s health, armor buffs, passive abilities, and Ntofo Strike, Opening the Path, and Almighty abilities as Riot tries to find a happy medium for their brave new champion.
In trying to figure out if he could truly be balanced in ranked play, it wasn’t just his E ability that was damaged.
These changes have been present in the PBE League of Legends for a while now and Riot seems happy with them, so they will be brought to the main servers.

Nezumah’s Pride has struggled to remain balanced since its late 2022 arrival.
Worlds and Neo PAX top new skins
The first of the preseason patches is certainly filled with League of Legends gameplay changes, but the cosmetics department hasn’t been forgotten – in fact, it’s been updated just like the rest of the update.
This time, 10 League of Legends champions will receive new skins, including six new Coven variants (including Prestige), an Old God version for Mordekaiser, and two Star Guardian skins for Shay and Rakan.
Renekton will also receive this year’s Worlds skin, which will go towards the South Korean event prize, and the updated Neo PAX Jax will hit digital shelves.
Speaking of complete; I don’t know which one to leave first!
Here are all the skins:
- Akali Coven (1,350 RP)
- Coven of Alice (1,350 RP)
- Coven of Syndra (1,350 RP)

Xayah and Rakan return to the Star Guardians in their new costumes.
Below I’ve compiled all the early LoL 11 patch notes for the October 13.20 update. Please keep in mind that until Riot releases an official patch, any of these buffs, nerfs, and changes will be temporary and we could see them rolled back at any time.
