Fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and beat ’em up games have probably already gone through the story campaign of the acclaimed title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge leveled up all the characters, and discovered all the secrets. Well, now it’s time to travel through the multiverse.
The heroes will embark on a new adventure for a reason. Neutrino teenagers appear from Dimension X with terrible news – Shredder is going to subjugate all existing worlds. Of course, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cannot ignore this, and rush in pursuit of the villain.
They are joined by a couple of new characters. Usagi is a rabbit samurai who attacks enemies with his katana. Its high speed allows players to more precisely control their movements and actively move around the arena. Karai is the daughter of Shredder himself. This is a more balanced and versatile fighter with more damage. The heroine relies on melee attacks, so when playing as her, you need to stay at close range with your opponents.
Survival mode, in which characters travel through dimensions, offers to collect crystals while fighting opponents. Only one life is given for everything, but weakened health can be corrected between stages by jumping into certain portals.
The game gives you a choice: after defeating opponents at a level, two portals open, each of which promises some kind of reward, such as the above-mentioned replenishment of health or modifiers that give strength to the hero, open up new abilities, even allow you to play for one of the enemies, including Bebop, Rocksteady, and Shredder.
The worlds are designed in a unique style, referencing the adventures of the mutant turtles. This could be the pages of a comic book, a handheld console interface, or an eight-bit graphics filter. In addition, characters can now change the color of their equipment, which allows for some additional variety in the game.
Given that the new mode is largely random, you never know what you’ll encounter in the future. These can be ordinary opponents, enhanced fighters, and even bosses. The gameplay gradually becomes more complex, but you can also put together a good setup for your hero, strengthening him – although success still largely depends on the player’s personal skill.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – Dimension Shellshock doesn’t contain enough content to be considered a game changer. However, it provides an opportunity to return to the adventures of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and spend a few more hours in their company. This is more than enough reason to pay attention to it.
