“In Starfield, ‘Access is Key’ represents a faction mission essential for Ryujin Industries, the dominant force in the Volii Star Systems. This long-standing corporation wields significant influence over both entities and individuals in the region. Their central hub is the Ryujin Tower, situated within Neon City on the Alpha Volii planet, a location you’ll frequent if you align yourself with this faction.
‘Access is Key’ in Starfield presents a distinctive mission that assesses your capacity to employ various, self-selected strategies. Let’s delve into how these choices can influence the outcome of your mission.”
How to unlock Access is Key mission in Starfield
In Starfield, the faction mission “A New Narrative” serves as a prerequisite for unlocking “Access is Key.” To gain access to these missions, your first step is to become a member of the Ryujin Industries faction, which can be achieved by successfully completing the “Back to the Grind” mission.
To unlock more assignments and build trust with the faction, focus on completing the assigned objectives. As your trust level increases, you’ll have the opportunity to undertake the “One Step Ahead” mission, which, upon completion, grants you access to “A New Narrative,” subsequently unlocking the “Access is Key” mission.
How to complete Access is Key in Starfield
To successfully accomplish “Access is Key” in Starfield, your initial step is to accept the mission from Imogene Salzo, the Operations Specialist at Ryujin Industries and your employer. Proceed to Ryujin Tower within Neon City on Volii Alpha and ride the elevator up to the Operations Floor.
From the reception area, head upwards, and you’ll locate her in a room with a glass wall overseeing the base. She will assign you the task of acquiring a Security Key Card from one of the Security Chiefs. It’s important to note that she strongly encourages the use of non-violent methods, such as pickpocketing or adopting the disguise of Security Guard Personnel. You have the flexibility to choose between disguising yourself as Hopetown Security, Paradiso Security, or a Security personnel at a clinic, and simply engaging in conversation with the Chief.
Wearing a security guard uniform during “Access is Key” is an optional objective, so your choice in this regard won’t impact the quest’s completion. However, resorting to weaponry or violence will result in a penalty of 250 credits deducted from your reward.
Multiple Security Chiefs can be found throughout the area, but here we’ve highlighted the two most accessible options for your convenience.
Find a Security Guard uniform
Your initial task to commence “Access is Key” in Starfield involves acquiring a security guard uniform. Fortunately, you can conveniently obtain one from the vendor stationed just outside. To reach the entrance of Ryujin Tower, simply return to the same elevator you used earlier. On your left, you’ll encounter Aito Suzuki, who operates the Ryujin Industries Product Store.
Among the various clothing options available, you’ll want to select the Corpo Boardroom Suit for the “Access is Key” mission, priced at 641 Credits. This suit also grants you a bonus 5% Persuasion Chance when worn.
Don the security guard uniform and proceed straight ahead, beyond the Spaceport Terminal, until you reach Neon Security. Upon entering, you’ll locate the Neon Security Head to your right. Initiate a conversation with her, and initially, she will be uncooperative. Consequently, you’ll need to employ Persuasion techniques to convince her to relinquish the security key.
It’s worth noting that, in our experience, opting for the safest dialogue choices in all questions tends to yield success within the allotted time frame. However, it’s possible that your experience may vary, so ensure you grasp the mechanics of Persuasion in Starfield.
Nonetheless, there’s an alternative method to complete “Access is Key” in Starfield, which we’ve outlined below.
Travel to Hopetown security base
Another approach to successfully complete the “Access is Key” mission in Starfield involves a visit to Polvo in the Valo System. Upon successfully clearing the Contraband Scan, proceed to make your way down to Hopetown on Polvo.
Upon landing, your objective is to locate the Hope Town Security Base, where the Security Officer is stationed. The quickest route takes you past a white container on the left, leading through the landing base. Before entering the grassy terrain, you’ll come across a camp containing valuable items ripe for looting.
As you reach the end of the grassy terrain, you’ll encounter the security base, unmistakably identified by three towering radio satellites. The Security Chief of Hope Town will be positioned on the porch outside one of the camps. You have the option to either incapacitate her and retrieve the Security Key Card from her body or attempt to pickpocket her, though the latter carries some additional risk.
Starfield Access is Key mission rewards
Return the Security Key Card to Imogene at Ryujin Tower to successfully wrap up the “Access is Key” mission in Starfield. Imogene will relieve you of the card and express her gratitude by granting you 100 XP. Your reward will consist of either 2500 or 2250 Credits, contingent upon the approach you opted for during the mission.
