Starfield Dev Bethesda Just Lost One of Its Most Important Executives
After 24 years with the company and the launch of Starfield, Peter Hines, Bethesda’s head of publishing, is leaving.

Peter Hines, who played a big role in making games like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield, is leaving the game company Bethesda after working there for 24 years. He was in charge of publishing and was a high-ranking person at the company. He said it was a tough decision, but it’s the right time to leave after Starfield’s launch.

Starfield is a big game set in space, and it came out on September 6 to good reviews. It’s the first time in more than 25 years that Bethesda made a completely new game world. Hines plans to spend his time doing things he enjoys, helping others, and having more fun in life.

Bethesda is part of Microsoft, which recently bought Activision Blizzard for a lot of money.

Hines, along with Todd Howard, has been a well-known face for big games like Fallout. He did interviews, went to conferences, and did things on social media. Bethesda said he did more behind the scenes, and his work helped make the company and its game studios really good.

Hines is the second big person in the game industry to retire this month, after Unity CEO John Riccitiello.
