Help out a fellow fan in Media Sponge by finding some limited first editions of his favorite book in Starfield.
“Media Sponge” is an Activity tailor-made for devoted enthusiasts and collectors in Starfield. Your mission involves assisting a dedicated fan of a book series in enhancing their collection of limited-edition items.
Your journey will span across the galaxy, taking you from the depths of Cydonia to acquire these books and deliver them to the eager collector. This guide provides insights into various locations where you can procure these sought-after books for the “Media Sponge” mission in Starfield.
How to unlock the Media Sponge mission
In order to access the “Media Sponge” activity in Starfield, you must eavesdrop on the UC Security Guard stationed outside the Broken Spear Bar in Cydonia, located on Mars within the Sol System.
You’ll find the guard positioned close to the plastic blinds, situated at the Cydonia Central Hub on the Main Level of the Mining Colony in Cydonia.
During your covert listening, the guard will refer to his friend Mitch, who is in search of assistance with various tasks. Subsequently, your Mission HUD will be seamlessly updated with the “Media Sponge” activity, neatly categorized under the Activity Tab.
How to complete Media Sponge in Starfield
Begin your journey by traveling to Cydonia on Mars in search of Mitch Benjamin. Descend into the Cydonia Mining Colony and proceed through the conspicuous orange door, leading to Luxe Condominiums-Cydonia Residential on your left. This entrance is directly across from the Trade Authority.
You might recall the Trade Authority Outpost from previous missions such as “Delivering Devils” and “Runaway.” Mitch awaits you near the entrance, a short distance from the UC guard.
Mitch, an ardent enthusiast of the “Dragonstar Force” book series, confides that its initial release didn’t enjoy much success. Despite this, his passion for the series drives him to amass a comprehensive collection of limited first editions. Unfortunately, his situation prevents him from leaving Cydonia or arranging for the books to be shipped to his location.
Your mission is to scour the galaxy, acquiring and purchasing these coveted limited edition volumes. Upon successfully collecting them, you’ll return to Mitch, who will reward your efforts generously.
While numerous locations across the Starfield galaxy offer copies of “Dragonstar Force,” we’ve highlighted a few expedient options for your convenience.
Location 1: HopeTown (Polvo)
To buy the Dragonstar Force first volume you need to head out to HopeTown on Polvo in Valo Star System. Enter the Pit Stop, door left of the Hope Tech building, just in front of the landing site.
You need to talk to Fast Hoang, who will be sitting on the bright sofa chairs, right next to the entrance. Ask to trade with him, you will find Dragonstar Force Volume 1 under the Notes Tab for 98 Credits only.
Location 2: New Homestead (Titan)
You can also secure a copy of the Dragonstar Force book at New Homestead, located on Titan, Saturn’s moon within the Sol System. Upon your arrival, proceed down the path from the landing site and enter the Homestead building.
Inside, make your way down the stairs and step into the initial store on your left as you enter the residential area. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to converse with Jae Montreal.
Notably, Jae stands out as one of the few genuinely affable vendors in the vast expanse of Starfield. Be sure to peruse his shop, where you’ll discover Dragonstar Force Volume 1 available for purchase under the Notes Tab, priced at a reasonable 88 Credits.
Location 3: Gagarin Landing (Gagarin)
The third and final destination featured on this list, where you can acquire the Dragonstar Force book, is Gagarin Landing on the planet Gagarin within the Alpha Centauri Star System.
Upon landing, proceed directly up the staircase from the landing site, and step into Clint’s Collectables, conveniently located on your right. Engage in conversation with Clint De Haven and explore his inventory to see what he has available.
Remarkably, you’ll come across Dragonstar Force Volume 1, available for a mere 85 Credits, marking the most budget-friendly rate discovered thus far within the vast universe of Starfield.
Should you persuade Mitch to pay or not?
Return to Cydonia and present the book to Mitch. You have the option to either hand it over directly or employ your persuasion skills to negotiate additional Credits.
Should you opt for persuasion during the “Media Sponge” mission in Starfield, you’ll need to successfully pass a 4-bar persuasion check. To clear the bar, you can select +3 in the orange category followed by +1 in the green category. Alternatively, if you possess the requisite skill, you can utilize the +5 Manipulation dialogue option.
We recommend pursuing the persuasion route, as not only is it relatively straightforward, but it also results in a slightly higher compensation on top of an already favorable payment.
Starfield – Media Sponge mission rewards
While it’s considered an uncomplicated mission, the compensation offered for completing “Media Sponge” surpasses that of many more time-consuming endeavors, despite requiring only a fraction of the effort and time investment.
Upon successful completion of “Media Sponge,” you will receive a rewarding payout of 100 XP. Additionally, your Credits reward will amount to either 2,100 or 3,700, contingent upon whether you chose to negotiate for a bit of extra payment in Starfield.
