Both Sides Shot is a new side quest introduced in the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. The quest “Both Sides Shot” becomes available after completing the quest “The Damned”. At this point you will receive a message from a fixer known as Mr.Hands. <str>Answer it, and after accepting the job, Hands will provide you with more information about the mission, primarily about the investigation of an individual known as Bree Whitney, who works as a journalist. You will be shown the way to her apartment and an unusual location for her access card, which you will need to go and pick up.
Go to Bree’s apartment in Night City
After following the “Both Sides Shot” quest marker in Cyberpunk 2077, which takes you to Skyline West, enter Bree’s apartment and you’ll notice Johnny making some offhand comments about the luxurious feel of the place. In any case, as Mr. Hands said, go through the door on the left.
Once you enter, look to the right corner of the room, past the computer terminal next to you, and you will find the bamboo plant that Mr. Hands mentioned. Approach the plant and interact with it. After this, you will receive an invitation to open the cabinet.
Do this and look down to find an open cabinet drawer and a Militech access card that you can grab. Johnny will comment that the logo is over 60 years old, indicating that our journalist is involved in some very shady activities.
Either way, when that’s done, text Mr. Hands saying you’re done, and he’ll instruct you to meet a client in Dogtown after dark. When you leave, Bree’s neighbor will appear at the door and ask about your presence here.
You can defuse the situation by telling him that you’re Bree’s friend, and he’ll buy into the story, commenting on how there’s been some shady people hanging around the premises lately.
Meet Bree in Dogtown
In any case, return to Dogtown and take the elevator to the lower levels. Past the elevator and ahead of where Johnny is standing, rush forward until you reach an open area where the quest marker will no longer automatically direct you. You can scan the ground and find tracks that will tell you where to go. From the moment you enter this new area, turn left and keep going until you see a door on your left. Enter this door, then turn right and go through the door. Head here, avoid the door in front of you and follow the path to the side. As you move forward, you will notice an open metal door leading to a narrow path with a set of pipes. Crouch down and follow this path down the pipes,
From here, go straight, and when you notice a small cart with a large stack of wooden beams, go right from it and, after passing it, turn right again, along the long path ahead. Towards the end on the left you will notice a hole between two stacks of cement pipes.
Go through this opening and turn right through the narrow metal container. From here, continue straight ahead until you notice a passage on the left. Go here and drop down to the open floor below.
Here you will notice another hole that you can go through by crouching. When you do this, your contact, that is, Bree, will appear and hold you at gunpoint.
Talk to Bree
A quick dialogue will appear, so tell her to calm down. After this, she will ask you to show her the access card to prove that you are who you say you are, after which she will calm down. After that, follow Bree, who will lead you to some old building below. <str>There won’t be many details here, so just play along with her, despite her paranoia. Once inside, you’ll have to scan the area for threats and slowly move forward with Bree. At some point, Bree will comment that so far everything is going well, but she needs to be on her guard just in case.
Deactivate security systems
In the next area of the Cyberpunk 2077 Shot by Both Sides quest, you will have to go through an activated security system, so you will have to fight past automatic turrets. There will also be some laser mines here, so disable all the security here to progress.
One thing to note here is that you can quickly hack and disable the cameras without being detected and immediately triggering the security system. This will also allow you to deactivate turrets more easily.
In any case, there will be even more security in the next room. Try to deactivate everything you can as soon as possible to avoid hassle.
Note that in the door next to the cell on the left there is a main computer that can disable the security. If you want to just disable them all manually, you can choose this option, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
Once you’ve eliminated the threats here, proceed to the next room with the deactivated turret and simply follow Brie as she enters the mainframe room. <p>Here, Bree will ask you to watch three different videos from the past, which will end with the revelation that Militech was using a rogue AI in an attempt to strengthen its old weaponry.
After this discovery, you now turn to leave, only to see the “neighbor” at the beginning of the quest, a Militech special agent named Dante Caruso~60 ~/strong>appears with a gun in his hand. He reveals a bit of Bree’s history as a Militech employee, which she confirms.
At this point, Dante will try to coerce you by stating that Bree intends to sell the data and run away with the money as part of the deal. This way, everyone who knows even a little about the project will be killed, even you, to make ends meet.
Should you kill Dante or Brie in a Shot from Both Sides?
You will have a limited choice of time: side with Bree in “Both Shots” or let the timer go down and let Dante kill Bree. In my opinion, it is better to side with Bree, as you will not only successfully complete the task given to you by Mr. Hands, but will also receive additional rewards.
If you choose Bree’s side , you’ll have to kill Dante, which shouldn’t be that difficult. Killing him will net you a few items, such as voice notes detailing his daily routine leading up to that point and some personal thoughts.
Nearby you can also pick up his weapon,<strong>Ol’Reliable, a level 5 iconic power revolver. Return to where Bree is hiding and after talking to her, she will mention that she plans to publish the article and leave Night City for a long time. She will then put the gun down and return to the terminal. The weapon you can pick up is the iconic tier 5 power pistol called the Riskit .
<str>Once this is done, leave the facility and you will receive a message from Mr. Hands congratulating you on a job well done.
If you decide to side with<strong>Dante , he will shoot Bree and that will be the end of it. You can search her body and get Riskit
Dante will then give you a shard detailing Bree’s conversation with Adam Naoki, promising a way out in exchange for data, thus confirming his claims. He will then thank you and pay you back for your troubles and also advise you that you can have faith in people but never trust them.
Afterwards, when you exit, Mr. Hands will call you and express his disappointment that you failed the mission due to Bree’s death, thus marking the end of Shot by Both Sides in Cyberpunk 2077.
